Delhi Red Fort
Red Fort (Lal Qila) is the symbol of India’s sovereignty. This UNESCO Heritage Site has witnessed the glory of Mughal empire in India , the British Rule in India as well as India’s struggle for freedom .This 17th century fort complex built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan and served as the capital of Mughals till 1857. Later it was used as a military camp by the British till India got independence.Built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, Red Fort is an architectural marvel. Red Fort is so called for it is made of red sandstone. The art work in Red Fort is a blend of Persian, Indian and European art. The architectural marvel of Mughals, the Red Fort complex is divided into 7 parts.
Red Fort is one of the most popular tourist attractions of Delhi. The light and sound show in the evening creates nostalgia of the past.
Diwan-e-Am ,the courtyard for public audiences with an glitzy throne balcony for the emperor painted in gold and separated from the public with a gold and silver railing.
Diwan-e-Khas- a pavilion done in white marble with pillars carved in with semi-precious stones.
Nahr-e-Bisht means Stream of Paradise. Nahr-e-Bisht is the water channel that connects the imperial private apartments overlooking the Yamuna river. The Palace is an imitation of paradise described in the holy book of Kuran and a verse inscribed in the palace reads, "If there be a paradise on earth, it is here, it is here".
Zenana – Zenanas are two pavilions in the southernmost of the palace the then residence of royal ladies famous for The Hammam, the marble pool in Turkish style.
Moti Masjid- the Pearl Mosque is a three-doomed mosque carved in white-marble.
Hayat Bakhsh Bagh- is a beautiful garden stands at the centre of the pool where the two channels meet.
