Qutub Minar
Qutub Minar Delhi is the tallest brick minaret of the world that is 72.5 meters high. Qutub Minar is one of the finest examples of the Indo-Ismalic architecture. Qutub Complex that includes Qutub Minar and its surrounding ancient and medieval structures and ruins is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is one the major tourist attractions in Delhi and in India which draws millions of tourists to Delhi in a year.Construction of the historical monument of Qutub Minar, inspired by the Minaret of Jam in Afghanistan, was commenced in 1193 by the first Muslim Ruler of India Qutub-ud-din Aibak, and was completed by Firoz Shah Tughlaq in the year 1386. Qutab Minar and its complex are built amidst the ruins of ancient Hindu and Jain temples. Iron Pillar in the Qutab Complex is among the primary metallurgical curiosities of the world.
The Qutab Minar is a tall minaret 234 feet high with 379 steps leading to the top has diameter of 14.3 meters wide in the base and 2.75 meters in the top. The walls of the minaret are carved with the epitaphs from the holy Koran. The scenic view of the city of Delhi from the top of the Qutab Minar is awe-inspiring.
Qutub Complex is the prime tourist attraction of Delhi and can be visited anytime between dawn to dusk.
