International Dolls Museum in Delhi
International Dolls Museum in Delhi spread over 5184 sq. ft was set up by the famous cartoonist, K Shankar Pillai in 1965. The museum was initially started with a collection of 500 dolls and by the year 1987 the number of dolls grew up to 5000. Currently there is a collection of around 6000 dolls gathered from over 85 countries and different parts of India. With such a big number of costume dolls, Shankar’s International Dolls Museum has become the museum with largest collection of dolls for public display.The exhibition of the dolls is divided into two parts- 1) Dolls of European countries, CIS countries, UK, USA, New Zealand and Australia, and 2) Dolls of India, the Middle East, other Asian countries and Africa. The museum has its own workshop too. 150 authentic Indian dolls have been designed at this workshop only. Visitors can also learn the art of making dolls at the workshop.
