Lotus Temple
The Bahá'í House of Worship in Delhi due to its lotus like shape is called Lotus Temple. Nestled in the serene area of Kalkaji in South Delhi, Lotus Temple in Delhi is one of the most visited buildings in the world. The architectural gem, Lotus temple, is a symbol of love, peace and purity.Designed by the Iranian architect, Fariborz Sabha the temple composes of 27 marble clad "petals" arranged in clusters of three to form nine sides. Lotus Temple welcomes the people of all religions with open arms. The Lotus Temple was inaugurated to public workship in 1986 and by the end of year 2002, the number of visitors to this lotus-shaped Temple surpassed those of Taj Mahal and Eiffel Tower. The structure of the temple and its serenity attracted over 50,000 visitors in a period of 32 years. On an average 4 million visitors come to this temple.
Complex of The Bahai House of Worship in Delhiis spread over 26 acres of land. The temple surrounded by water bodies and lush green gardens on all sides creates an image of lotus floating in water. The House of Worship with no pictures, statues and images on display has the capacity to accommodate 2500 people at a time in its centre hall.
In the evening, the site looks breathtakingly beautiful when the entire complex of Lotus Temple is lit up crating a magical charisma all over.
